A. Berge Speaker Rev. Selmer Viking Day BULLETIN OF Augustana College ALUMNI ISSUE Vol. 14 October, 1 933 No. 5 Viking Day, October i4th The activities of Augustana's tenth an-nual Viking Day will begin Friday eve-ning, October 13 and continue until Sat-urday evening, October 14. Norril Rog-ness, chairman of the af-fair, has announced that all committees are pro-gressing smoothly. The homecoming fes-tivities will begin with the coronation of the queen, Friday evening. The Sym-phony orchestra will make its first appearance of the year at this event. Fol-lowing these ceremonies will be the annual bonfire and pep fest near the ath-letic field. A. G. A. to Sponsor Tea The main speaker of this year's event will be Rev. Selmer A. Berge, president of the Interna-tional Young People's Luther League, who will make his address Satur-day morning at 10:00 o'clock, in the gym-nasium. Rev. Berge has gained the favor of the people of this vicinity in local ap-pearances in 1928 and 1931. The college a capella choir will also make its first appearance at this time. A mammoth parade will open the af-ternoon program and will begin at 1:00 o'clock. Open house and the homecoming tea spon-sored by the A. G. A. will be held in the La-dies Hall at 3:00 P. M. At 5:30, the annual Alum-ni homecoming banquet will be held in the First Lutheran church parlors. Football Game In Evening Coach L. A. Olson's title defending Vikings will add their share to the color of the day by meeting the Southern Nor-mal gridders under the floodlights at 8:15. This will be one of the games in which the Augustana squad will try to defend the state title won last year. This game will cli-max the events for the 1933 Viking Day affair.
