This item is part of the larger Fern L. Chamberlain Papers available at the Center for Western Studies. Fern Chamberlain served as chief of the South Dakota Department of Public Welfare, Research and Statistics, and with Lutheran Social Services. The collection consists of correspondence, press releases, reports and papers related to various organizations in which Chamberlain was associated and the welfare system in South Dakota. Also included is a copy of "South Dakota Children in Need of Special Care" (1922), and an extensive scrapbook of newspaper articles concerning Wounded Knee.
