This item is part of the larger Esther (Johnstad) Knutson Collection, available at the Center for Western Studies. The collection contains original documents and photographs relating to the life of Millie (Thorson) Johnstad (Esther Knutson's mother), who lived in Sisseton, South Dakota. The collection contains correspondence between 1908-1924 and 1969-1974. The letters include correspondence between Mille Thorson and Elias Johnstad (Esther's father) from 1918-1919. Elias served in the U.S. military in France during the first World War.
