Lyall Merry writes to Charles and Effie Merry (his parents) on July 14, 1918. He says he is fine and has been having a good time as of late. In the first paragraph, he updates his parents on his relationship with the “Glendive girl” and recent correspondence from a lady in Dickinson, North Dakota. He explains his plan for his paycheck and what his parents should do with his Missoula (Montana) photos he is sending along.
Collection Description
This is a part of the larger Robert Kolbe collection, available at the Center for Western Studies. The collection consists of a variety of material and items from an Athol Mabee Photographic Postcard Collection and letters to photographs and books. The photos are of a variety of subjects including: family events and real estate. Three books are included in this collection: ''North Dakota History'' Number 1 from January 1953, ''Uwikapun'' [Indian missionary text, published in German language], and ''The German Baptists in North America'' by A.J. Ramaker. Correspondence ranges from a 1890 letter from William Woodward Pfrimmer of Indiana to a soldier's World War One correspondence back to his family in North Dakota (the Merry letters).
