In this 1894 letter, Senator R.F. Pettigrew writes his brother F.W. about the pending sale of land in Flandreau, SD. R.F. claims the process is being held up by a ""contemptible and bigoted democrat"" in the surveying divison who ""seems to think it is a pleasure to annoy any republican. He then reiterates his commitment to selling the land ""as fast as possible.""
