In this 1900 letter, R.F. Pettigrew writes to his brother F.W. about a piece of land (""souoth of the river"") he would like to purchase. He advises paying a price of $20 per acre says that F.W. should take control of the land once the transaction has been finalized. The rest of the letter covers a range of topics, including an Indian bill, which R.F. says will not pass; F.W.'s cattle, which R.F. declares have not had enough food or proper care this winter; and a series of railroad tracks owned by the Great Northern Railroad. Of the tracks, R.F. advises F.W. to ""write to the Great Northern people and buy enough of them for our purpose).""
