The Nils A. Boe Collection’s contents, available at the Center for Western Studies, cover much of the life of South Dakota’s 23rd governor. Nils A. Boe was the South Dakota Governor from 1965-1969, then proceeded to serve as Director of Inter-Governmental Relations from 1968-1971. He was Chief Judge of the US Customs Court from 1971-1977, a Judge on the court until 1980, and finally a Judge on the U.S. Court of International Trade from 1980-1984. The collection is comprised of three series, the first of which contains eight boxes of papers and documents ranging from biographical information to correspondence and speeches from his time as Governor. The second series is made up of photographs and former scrapbooks. The final series is principally comprised of various artifacts, including campaign materials (Note: dimension measurement does not include this series).
