The Bessie Pettigrew Collection includes documents, correspondence, clippings, account books, record books, and photographs collected by Bessie Pettigrew, daughter of South Dakota homesteader F.W. Pettigrew and niece of United States Senator Richard F. Pettigrew. Bessie Pettigrew was also related to the following Pettigrew family members: Richard F. Pettigrew (1880-1912), Jennie Pettigrew (1891-1933), Parker Pettigrew (1873-1876), Sydney Pettigrew (1904-1908), Zewlin Pettigrew, Delos P. Beech (1893-1897), and Mrs. L.M. Harden (1916-1919). The collection also contains business documents of F.W. Pettigrew concerning the Sioux Falls, Yankton and Southwestern Railway Company, the Sioux Falls City Street Railroad Company, St. Olaf Roller Mill, glass photo negatives, fossils, and Sioux Falls Woolen Mill; it also contains the miscellaneous writings of Bessie Pettigrew. Note: the dimensions measurement includes a small selection of glass plate negatives.
