The American Association of University Women Collection contains records of the AAUW at the branch, state, and national levels including newsletters, convention programs, minutes, scrapbooks, procedural information, financial information, reports, yearbooks, and other papers regarding the work and history of the AAUW. Founded in 1881, the AAUW promotes women's issues through a program of advocacy, education, and research. The goal of the AAUW has been to enrich the cultural and intellectual life of the community as well as promote the welfare and increase the opportunities of women. The Sioux Falls branch began in 1923. This collection is an excellent resource concerning the efforts of a women's organization functioning in Sioux Falls throughout much of the twentieth century.
