The Conrad Gesner papers, available at the Center for Western Studies, consist of materials amassed during Conrad Gesner's career within the Missionary District of South Dakota. Records end in 1969 with his retirement. The collection is arranged in six series: (1) Office Files, 1945-1969; (2) A Study of the Episcopal Church in the Missionary District of South Dakota, 1959; (3) Personal Files, 1945-1969; (4) Sermons, 1932-1934; (5) Personal Diaries, 1927-1941; (6) Personal Register, 1945-1955. Conrad Gesner served as General Missionary at Calvary Cathedral, Sioux Falls from 1927-1929. Between 1929-1933 Gesner was rector of Trinity Church in Pierre, and Dean of the Central Deanery from 1931-1933. He was made Bishop Coadjutor in 1945 and became Bishop of the Missionary District of South Dakota in 1954.
