The Wilbert A. Swain Papers, available at the Center for Western Studies, consist primarily of materials amassed by Swain in his duties as Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Church in South Dakota. The collection consists of documents spanning primarily from 1920 - 1950, across 23 boxes. The materials are arranged into six series: (1) Office Correspondence; (2) Financial & Legal Documents 1886-1950; (3) Hugh L. Burleson Estate Files; (4) Personal Correspondence 1929-1932; (5) Oversize Journals; (6) Photographs. Wilbert Swain moved from Brooklyn, New York to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1901 and began working with the Episcopal Church in Sioux Falls in 1926. The collection ends with his retirement in 1950.
