The Boe Family Collection, available at the Center for Western Studies, consists of materials from Reverend Nils N. Boe, his wife Sissel, and their children Dagny, Lois, Karen, Borghild, and Nils A. Boe. The collection also contains correspondence, speeches, photographs, newspaper articles, books, church papers, booklets, and other family artifacts. The career oriented items principally focus on Nils N. and Sissel Boe careers. Nils N. Boe worked in Baltic and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lutheran parishes. Eventually becoming the president of the South Dakota District of the Lutheran Church of America. Sissel was teacher and became the Dean of Women and an instructor at Lutheran Normal School before her marriage to Nils N. Boe. The included correspondence is both church and family related, to and from immediate and extended family members. This collection is connected with two other collections, focusing specifically on Borghild Boe (30329) and Nils A. Boe (30466), but also containing some information about the Boe family.
