Medium-small birch bark basket with damaged handle. The interior is decorated with floral birch cutouts dyed red and fastened by a type of twine. There is a cracked side handle which has been broken off at the top and the opposite portion of the handle is missing. On the flat bottom, black text reads "RWC" and "July 23, 1946, From P..." the remaining text is indecipherable.
Collection Description
This item is part of the larger Blue Cloud Abbey-American Indian Cultural Research Center Collection available at the Center for Western Studies. The collection houses the research center's official papers, correspondence, artifacts and other items. The collection was donated by Fr. Stanislaus Maudlin and Rev. Thomas Roznowski and also contains a large selection of photographs and negatives focused on daily life of Native Americans and the workings of Blue Cloud Abbey.
