The students in the picture represent both schools. A brief presentation address and acceptance were given and the band played "Old McDonald Had a Farm." (Paul Rogers Photo) Cleveland Playhouse Presents Shaw's "Arms and the Man" Augustana students a n d faculty members are in for a real treat this Saturday, Oct. 14, when the Artist and Lec-ture Series proudly presents the ever popular Cleveland Playhouse in Shaw's Arms and the Man. The curtain will go up on the production at the Community Playhouse at 8:00 p.m. All Augustana students are Recently, the American In-stitute of Physics and the American Association of Phy-sics Teachers announced the appointment of Dr. V. R. Nel-son of Augustana College, as Regional Counselor in Physics for the state of South Dakota. Dr. Nelson will be one of the charter group of counselors for each state whose broad objective is to raise the quality of physics teaching and learning in the secondary schools of the country. The Regional Counselor Program in Physics will be concerned with the training and certification of physics teachers, courses of study in physics, apparatus, textbooks, laboratories, and classrooms. Dr. Nelson's office will serve as a clearing house for infor-mation regarding such items members of the Artist and Lecture Series and may pick up their tickets by showing the student I.D. card. An I.D. card is necessary for each ticket desired. A block of 500 seats has been reserved for Augustana students and fac-ulty, and these tickets may be picked up at the Drama department in the Science Building from 10:00 a.m. to science projects, science tea-as enrollment changes, local cher recruitment programs, new apparatus, layout of new laboratories, remodeling lab-oratories, and classroom de-sign. school in South Daokta de- The physics teachers and ad-ministrators of the secondary schools of the state will be sent brochures describing the types of assistance available to them under the Regional Counselor Program. 4:30 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. It is the duty of these officers to keep everything under con-trol in the dormitories and to aid the head resident in solv-ing problems that arise. Officers in East Hall are: President — Judy W yf f le s, Tracy, Minnesota; Vice-Presi-dent— Lavonne Pulcher, Stor-den, Minnesota; Secretary - Treasurer to be announced; Devotional Chairman—Sharon Wolff, Frederick, South Da-kota; Social Chairman—Judy Boyum, Albert Lea, Minne-sota. The officers under their adviser Rev. Wayne Bunn, Madison, are Jim Fish, Rapid City, presidelnt; Gary Presler, Sel-by, first vice-president; Dave Solberg, Sioux Falls, second vice - president; Sylvia Lee, Volga, secretary; Linda Chris-tenson, Forestberg, treasurer. Rev. Herbert Brokering, the Director of Parish Education of The American Lutheran Church, will be the keynote speaker. Rev. Roy Johnson, lay member of the youth com-mittee, will conduct a Bible Study. Featured at the ban-quet to be held in the Com-mons Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. will be Rev. John Nelson, Associate Pastor of Extremes—form the sound of a tailgate 'bone of a New .Orleans funeral procession to the dissonances of contempory composition for duo piano— from today's questions in the poetry of the beat generation to time's solutions in folk guitar and song will be pre-sented. Mr. Norman Soyland an alumnis will perform. The incorporation into the pro-gram of interesting lighting a n d designing effects is planned. Viking Varieties will be pre-sented twice this year, at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m., October 28, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Friday, October 13, the Luther Leaguers will present at Student Body, and the con-vention will adjourn at 3:45 that afternoon. Attention! Viking Days royalty election will be held Monday, October 16. Vot-ing will begin immedi-ately after chapel. Fresh-men and others in their first year of attendance at Augie shall not be privileged to vote for Viking Days queen. The run-off election for queen will be held on Friday, October 20. There is a freshman class meeting in the gym following the student body meeting Friday. At-tendance is required. Discount tickets for "Question 7" are avail-able in the Commons lob-by. the Washington High School Auditorium. Tickets will be on sale in downtown Sioux Falls and at the College. Ad-vance ticket salesmen will be on campus shortly. Participants please note: Re-hearsal dates are set for 3:30 p.m., October 23 and 24, in the Little Theatre.
