Entered at the Post Office at Sioux Falls, S. D., as second class matter, May 31, 1899. The Lutheran Normal School Mirror Is devoted to the best interests of the parochial and common schools, and is published monthly (except July, August and September) by the Mirror Association. School closed for the holidays, Dec-ember 21st. It begins again January 4th. May the new year be a prosperous one ! It has been too cold for basketball playing the last two months, but in place of that the cold weather brought us skat-ing. We tried to get a skating rink near the school this winter, but did not suc-ceed, so we have to be content with walk-ing to the lake or river for skating. The Mission society had its last meet-ing Sunday evening, December i6th. The following program was rendered : Organ solo—"Impromptu" Schubert Nettie Knutson. Hymn, No. 76. Opening remarks Prof. Xavier Reading Elizabeth Turmo Vocal solo—"One Sweetly Solemn Thought" Ambrose Annetta Sanderson. Gleanings from the Mission Fields Rudolph Hokenstad. Of this little compendium of Chris-tian doctrine D'Aubigne, of the Re-formed Church says : "It probably did more than any other of Luther's writ-ings to propagate the faith of the apostles." Justus Jonas, Luther's friend and co-laborer, says : "I verily believe the Holy Ghost inspired the venerable brother to write it." Matthesius, another Reformer and friend of Luther, says : "If Luther had done nothing in a life-time but to pro-duce his Catechism, the world could not sufficiently thank or repay him." Dr. Krauth said : "The Catechism is a thread throughout the labyrinth of Exchanges Personal and Local
