The Robert G. Smith - Kansas 9th Collection, available at the Center for Western Studies, is a collection of Civil War papers regarding the Kansas 9th and 7th Regiments. These papers constitute the majority of the original records known to exist regarding "H" Company of the Ninth Regiment of Kansas Volunteer Cavalry under the command of Captain Thomas P. Killen (covering September 1861 to September 1864). This collection contains 61 hand-written documents dealing with the formation and activities of "H" Company Cavalry during its involvement in the Civil War. It also contains a record of all the officers and enlisted men that were a part of the company.
